Three Cheers for the Weekend!

Gonna have some fun, show you how it's done, TGIF!

Friday's finally here. This week really seemed to drag on. I think part of it was because my energy level has been somewhat diminished this week. I haven't been sleeping as well as I like, but that seems to be improving now. Last night I had to keep fighting my husband for the sheets, but that's okay. If I get too cold I just make sure I snuggle up nice and close to him. :-D

As tired as I am and ready for a weekend, I'm really looking forward to this evening. My hubby's boss gave us his symphony tickets for tonight's performance. I love when opportunities like this come up--being married to a man in the music business has some great perks, that's for sure. Tonight we'll be hearing "The Pines of Rome" (aka the whales music in Fantasia 2K), a Mendelssohn violin concerto and a Stravinsky piece, although I can't remember which one.

Not even the downtown traffic will be able to diminish my enthusiam about this one!

Tomorrow I'm going to a wedding of a friend from church. I haven't known her for very long, but she's a nice gal, so I'm looking forward to celebrating with her. That reminds me, I still need to buy a gift, yikes!

Well, my morning break is over. Time for me to take off my blogging hat and put my "scientist girl" cape back on. Off I go to save the world from the evils of perchlorate and volatile organic compounds... *humming the "Captain Planet" theme song to myself*

Hello Lauren...seems as I was away working crazy hours you and Leah become good friends!!

Sorry I have not writen back to you I have been so busy and haven't even been able to check my mail.

I am glad you had a good weekend, all of your posts are so positive and it just seems like the Lord is giving you a season of blessings, it is a time to cherish!!

Do you really have OCD or were you just messing around like "you weren't crazy about it?" Well I do have OCD something that I have to live with everyday and is getting some what better I have only had the symptoms for about 10 months now. It has been a hard road and at times I do not see the light at the end of the tunnel persay.

Well you seem so full of life what are your PFT's like, do you get sicker in the winter months? Leah and myself both start to feel worse around Oct.thru as long as Jan. The last time I was in the hospital was a year ago and I want to keep it like that during this winter season!!

Do you exercise? I find it very hard to keep a routine going, I just don't have the time, but I need to make it!!

Well write soon, GBU, your sister with CF & in Christ, Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,
Glad to hear you survived the crazy work hours.

Yep, I really do have OCD, as if CF wasn't fun enough, right? I was only diagnosed within the last 6 months, and now that we know what to do for it, it's like a whole new world has opened up! Some days are better than others of course. When I'm having a rough day with it I refer to it as a "bad brain day" (as opposed to a bad hair day.) I'll be praying that you are able to adapt well. I agree that it's sometimes hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. (But if I turn the light off and on an even number of times, I feel better...j/k)

My PFTs are pretty stellar if I do say so myself. I don't know the numbers off-hand.

The winter months used to be my typical rough spots, but I think that may be shifting. I was out of comission for a 4 month chunk of time back in April. I had never been that sick before. I had to miss a friend's wedding (I was supposed to be a bridesmaid :( ) because I could barely walk 4 feet. Now I can run up 4 flights of stairs and not get very winded.

Exercise is a relative term. I do more weight training stuff than cardio, since it's muscle mass I want to work on.

Hi Lauren! That's cool that you do weight training. I do that too when I go to the gym. I think it helps to have strong back and chest muscles to cough out stuff.
Well speaking of PFT numbers...my baseline FEV 1 is 52%. I dont know what my FVC # is (since my doctors don't really pay attention to that one) but I think it is in the 60's.
I am glad for you and Rebecca having high numbers. I wish my lungs would reverse.
But anyway I'm just trying to keep them stable. Talk to you soon!

It’s a rare thing to find someone as generous and kind as you. Thank you for supporting my dreams, no matter what. I couldn’t ask for a better partner.
